Who Benefits?

Students Win National and International Travel

Winners in each region advance to the CyberSci national finals, and top teams there go on to represent Canada at international events – in Prague and Athens this year.

Employers Hire Top Cyber Talent

At CyberSci events employers can accurately identify top talent because they are directly embedded with student teams working on realistic cyber tasks.

Sponsors Build Canada’s Next-Gen Cyber Workforce

Sponsoring a CyberSci event grants your organization wide exposure as cutting-edge leaders in cyber security.

Interested in Hosting?

On top of the prestige that comes with hosting a CyberSci event, your school or business will prove they a national leader in the cyber space.

We hold regional events in most major Canadian cities in November every year, and national finals in July.  30 to 50 attendees at each.

How it Works

CyberSci is a series of regional cyber challenge hiring events in major cities across Canada in late Fall each year.  The challenge style is similar to a CTF, but sticks to realistic scenarios using vulnerabilities seen in the day-to-day work of our organizing team.

We do hacking in the morning, interviews in the afternoon, and job offers (intern/coop) by supper.
Full-time positions may need follow-up interviews later in the week.

    – The winning team from each region moves on to the CyberSci national finals in the summer.

    – These events focus on hiring.  Employers are embedded with students – working on realistic cyber tasks.

We run the Canadian national finals in Ottawa in the summer.

    –  The winning team from each CyberSci regional event is invited to attend the national finals.

    –  An all-women’s team and an all-juniors team are also invited.

    –  Top teams from the nationals go on to represent Canada at international events.

    –  This is where sponsors get maximum exposure for their brand.

Winning teams at the CyberSci national finals go on to represent Canada at international events.

Students win International travel to at least one of these events.

September 2021:  European Cyber Security Challenge in Prague, Czechoslovakia

December 2021:  International Cyber Security Challenge in Athens, Greece

(Covid update – April 23, 2021:  At this time, the Prague planning committee is organizing both an in-person and an on-line version of the event.  Final decision to come in June.  The Athens event is, at this time, planned to be in-person.)

CyberSci is a non-for-profit organization.  Employers and sponsor companies pay to attend regional events and receive the opportunity to hire the best new talent in their region.  The money is used to cover costs, especially sending students to the national finals in Ottawa.

Sponsor companies, and some employers, fund the national finals. The funds are used to form Canada’s national team and subsidize their participation at prestigious international cyber competitions.
